How to Chop an Onion

1. Halve onion lengthwise through root and stem ends.

2. Peel onion by removing outer layers of skin.

3. Slice through each onion half 3 or 4 times, parallel to cut surface, to within 1/2 inch (12mm) of root end.

4. Slice 4 or 5 times through onion, without cutting into root end.

5. Finally, cut through previous cuts.
